Golestan palace showcases garden rugs

Iconic Golestan Palace in the Iranian capital city of Tehran is holding an exhibition of the Qajar era fine rugs with garden designs.

UNESCO world heritage center, Golestan Palace, is hosting the antique rug collection’s first ever public presentation.

The Golestan Palace, meaning the palace of flowers in Persian, is a masterpiece of the Qajar era (1794-1924).

One of the oldest historic monuments in Tehran and registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, the palace belongs to a group of royal buildings that were once enclosed within the mud-thatched walls of a citadel in Tehran. It consists of gardens, royal buildings, and collections of Iranian crafts and European presents from the 18th and 19th centuries.
